How to attract talent - what today’s employees are looking for

You can’t have failed to miss that when it comes to recruitment and searching for talent, we’re in a more connected environment. GlassDoor, LinkedIn, Career Bliss and Vault all make it incredibly easy for potential employees to connect with your existing employees, take a look at your latest news and see what previous employees have thought about you – all before they attend a first interview or even apply for a role. This will naturally start to impact your business – but there is something you can do about it.

We encourage all businesses to carve out their own niche culture of employee engagement, not only to retain current staff, but as a measure to attract new staff. We offer a tech solution, but first, here’s why you should definitely not pass off employee engagement as something that’s just ‘nice to have’.

A study from GlassDoor revealed…

•    69 percent of job seekers would not take a job with a company that has a bad reputation--even if they were unemployed
•    84 percent of employees would consider leaving their current job if they were offered a job by a company with an excellent reputation.
•    Nearly 80 percent of Millennials look at people and culture fit with prospective employers, followed by career potential.

That last statistic in particular really shows when it comes to attracting talent; you don’t have to have vast deep pockets set aside for salary or even immediate training and development – you just have to show your commitment to great culture. What that means for your business is unique to you, but we would always suggest you consider health rewards, gift rewards, and recognition awards first.

If you’re reading this thinking - so what? You can attract staff with your eyes closed! Your employees already work hard for you – then you might be keen to know that the same stats have also shown that increasing employee engagement investments by as little as 10 percent can increase company profits by $2,400 per employee per year – an incredible return. The exact rate might be different for you, but even on an anecdotal analysis this shows that treating staff well and rewarding them often is a ‘no brainer’ when it comes to the potential return.

SVM Global understands that when it comes to rewarding employees and creating a reward culture, you may feel you don’t have the time or resource. That’s why our range of gift cards and digital gift cards make such an impact. Whether simply as a thankyou or as part of a bigger reward programme, it’s easier than you think to get started and reap the benefits.

Why not speak to us today about launching your first reward campaign?
