Since SVM is now global, we’ve decided that this month, we will blog about events and festivals from around the world! Let’s start with the Sziget festival in Hungary, which runs between 10th and 17th August. This is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe! Some of the 2015 bands include: Robbie Williams, The Script and Kings of Leon.
With music to accommodate all tastes, ranging from mainly pop/rock, to metal, alternative, jazz and classical, this festival is celebrating it’s 23rd launch. Fans attend from across the globe. In fact, it’s estimated that around 400,000 visitors are drawn to this event. Some just attend a day or two, whereas others will prefer to stay for the week.
So what if you’re not interested in music? Should you attend? Maybe so! Sziget is not restricted in any way. As well as the fabulous tunes, you can enjoy theatres and exhibitions. Also, the beautiful city of Budapest, where Sziget is located, offers plenty of tourist opportunities. Budapest provides historic insights and ‘ruin pubs’ – it is quaint and full of life. If you enjoy getting pampered, there are also relaxation spas, whether you’d prefer to receive a massage, or whether you’d like to benefit from various other treatments.
Are you interested in attending? Make sure you don’t miss out! If you’d like to stay for the entire week, there is lots of accommodation available, including the opportunity to camp. The following website gives further information on the festival and provides a useful overview of places to stay: http://szigetfestival.com/accommodation. Stay tuned for our next upcoming blog. If you have any suggestions, our feature for this month is ‘worldwide events.’ Please do let us know your thoughts and comments!
