SVM Global ‘Tags In’ To Uganda Rugby Trust Trip

SVM Global is proud to support an initiative from 17 local Yorkshire based rugby players and coaches who are travelling to Uganda to support the work of the Tag Rugby Trust by introducing hundreds of children to the sport of tag rugby.

The trip to Entebbe is due to take place between 17th & 29th March, and will involve the delivery of the game of TAG  Rugby in the mornings and then helping the communities in the afternoon, including everything from repairing homes, wells and even roads.  Working in the local orphanages, with basic learning skills and anything else that may be needed.

After a week of coaching disadvantaged children the trip will culminate with a big tournament for the new rugby pros to show off their skills!

Paul Carlos reached out to SVM before the trip, and as keen rugby fans, the SVM family were more than happy to help.

Paul said of the donation:

“I am very fortunate to know the SVM family and the work that they do within their business is tremendous and so too is the support that they give to external charitable causes.  The plan for the trip is to add a little value to those who may have enough to exist but have little else, myself and my daughter hope to make a difference in any way we can. We are sure that it will have a positive impact on our lives too and we are grateful to all who have supported us.”

Katrina Dunne added

“We were delighted when Paul let us know about this charity initiative which is both a wonderful cause and an incredible adventure. We are sure that the gift of rugby and help in the village that the volunteers are giving will be gratefully received and the SVM family are backing the team to get as many donations as possible to make their trip incredibly successful.”

As well as fundraising for the trip, the teams will be taking a mountain of sports equipment including balls, cones and t-shirts so they can continue to play.  Additional money will be used to provide resources to continue the community development through the sport, and will be distributed by the Tag Rugby Trust into the areas where their experience shows it is required.
